Key findings

  1. 1

On the 18 platforms tracked throughout the window, open roles changed by -7.3% once measured like for like across the changes in how this site reads some of their boards (2,665 to 2,632 as read, -1.2%), on 1,160 new listings against 1,289 removals; 2 grew and 5 shrank by 10% or more while 5 held steady.

    Figure 1
  2. 2

Among platforms whose change reads on its own, Appen grew most in proportion (from 32 to 42 open roles, +31.3%) and AfterQuery added the most roles (+32, from 198 to 230 open roles, +16.2%).

    Figure 1
  3. 3

xAI (SpaceXAI) shrank most in proportion (from 31 to 17 open roles, -45.2%) and OpenTrain AI lost the most roles (-157, from 804 to 40 open roles as read, -19.6% like for like across the change in how this site reads its board on 14 Oct 2026, start restated for its re-key batch, with 307 removals against 180 new listings).

    Figure 1
  4. 4

On 19 Oct 2026, Mindrift re-issued 20 listings under new identifiers: the same titles left and came back at one read (24 left and 22 arrived that day; the re-issued ones are 13.7% of its removals and 8.6% of its new listings over 1 Oct 2026 to 31 Oct 2026), so they are set aside rather than read as roles filled and opened, and kept out of its 135 new listings and 49 removals.

  5. 5

Alignerr raised what it advertises for the same work by 55.4% across 2 kinds of work, comparing roles posted in September 2026 with roles posted in October 2026, while its overall median went from $20/hr to $50/hr.

  7. 7

Over the longer run, the 16 platforms tracked since the week of 10 Aug 2026 averaged 1,495 open roles that week and 2,385 in the week of 26 Oct 2026 as read (+13.5% like for like, across the changes in how this site reads some of their boards).

    Figure 3
  8. 8

Since 3 Aug 2026, Alignerr moved into Transcription, Audio & Speech (57 new listings from 1 Sep 2026, 112 open at the end) and OpenTrain AI left Writing & Content (52 open roles at the start, none at the end), among 14 entries and 16 exits of at least 3 roles.

Sample. 4,381 roles open at the end of 31 Oct 2026 on the 62 platforms with open roles at the start or the end of 1 Oct 2026 to 31 Oct 2026, read from their public job boards; 18 were tracked from before the window opened.

Open at start: open at 00:00 UTC on 1 Oct 2026; open at end: open at the end of 31 Oct 2026. Change compares the two on the same platform. A listing re-issued under a new identifier (see Re-key batch) leaves and arrives at the same read, so it moves neither end and is kept out of New listings and Removed; Change as read is the raw comparison.

Status: Growing at a change of +10% or more, Shrinking at -10% or less, Steady between. A platform with fewer than 19.2 open roles at the start, the weight of the platforms' average change fitted on their own counts, so the average weighs more than its own shows Too few roles; a platform first read during the window shows when it was first read and is left out of the first row, so its arrival is never counted as growth.

Re-key batch: a day on which at least 3 of a platform's listings left and came back under the same title at the same read (re-issued under new identifiers; this window, or a calendar month since 3 Aug 2026). Those listings are set aside from New listings, Removed and Net flow and stated here; a re-issued listing leaves and arrives once each, so the start needs no restating.

New listings leave out a platform's first week in this dataset (its back catalogue). Net flow is new listings minus removals; it can differ slightly from the change in open roles where a platform's back-catalogue week overlaps the start of the window.

Stating a rate and Median rate are read on the roles open at the end (the first row: every platform with open roles). A median needs at least 3 roles stating an hourly rate.

This site changed how it reads 6 platforms' boards in this span (Alignerr on 14 Oct 2026; Handshake AI on 14 Oct 2026; Prolific on 18 Oct 2026; Mindrift on 14 Oct 2026 and 22 Oct 2026; Outlier (Scale AI) on 30 Oct 2026; OpenTrain AI on 14 Oct 2026). From each change to the end of its week the roles that came into view are counted as already listed, not as new listings, and the roles that left view are not counted as removals; changes in open roles are measured like for like across it, on the roles that did not move with it. Each platform's own report says what changed.

How many platforms are growing, holding or shrinking, and how many open roles does each group hold?

Sample. The 62 platforms of the panel, 1 Oct 2026 to 31 Oct 2026.

Statuses and changes as in the panel. Growing and Shrinking name a like-for-like change of +/-10% or more; Too few roles: fewer than 19.2 open roles at the start, the weight of the platforms' average change fitted on their own counts, so the average weighs more than its own.

Sample. Average open roles over the days of each ISO week (Monday to Sunday, UTC; counted at 00:00 each day), 10 Aug 2026 to 31 Oct 2026, on 62 platforms.

Columns are weeks, labelled by their first day. A platform's first week counts only the days after it was first read; weeks before it are n/a, and its change is not computed (it shows when it was first read).

"All platforms, as read" includes platforms as they were added to this dataset, so its change is not computed; "Platforms tracked since the first week" holds the set fixed, so an added platform never reads as growth.

Cells are open roles as read. First to last week is like for like: the weeks chained across any change in how this site reads a platform's board, each step on the roles that did not come into or leave view with it.

This site changed how it reads 6 platforms' boards in this span (Handshake AI on 9 Sep 2026 and 14 Oct 2026; OpenTrain AI on 13 Sep 2026, 22 Sep 2026 and 14 Oct 2026; Alignerr on 14 Oct 2026; Mindrift on 14 Oct 2026 and 22 Oct 2026; Prolific on 18 Oct 2026; Outlier (Scale AI) on 30 Oct 2026). From each change to the end of its week the roles that came into view are counted as already listed, not as new listings, and the roles that left view are not counted as removals; changes in open roles are measured like for like across it, on the roles that did not move with it. Each platform's own report says what changed.

No row with any open roles in their first week is a small sample: the rows differ so much that each reads on its own from its first.

The 26 Oct column covers 6 days only.

The last 12 weeks are shown.

Sample. 2,611 new listings stating an hourly rate, 3 Aug 2026 to 31 Oct 2026, by the calendar month they were first listed. A month's median is shown where a platform has at least 3 of them; n/a otherwise.

New listings only (what a platform offers when it posts), not every open role: a rate set months ago and still listed does not move this log. A platform's first week in this dataset (its back catalogue) and the listings of re-key batches are left out.

Median, first to last: the change between the platform's first and last month with a median. It moves with the mix of work listed as well as with rates.

Same work: for each kind of work with at least 3 priced new listings in both of those months, the change in its median, averaged with the later month's listings as weights. Direction reads it: Raised at +10% or more, Cut at -10% or less, Held between; Not comparable when no kind of work qualifies, or when the kinds compared hold less than 50% of the later month's priced listings (Compared), since most of what was posted then has nothing to compare with. For All platforms the same work is the same kind of work on the same platform, so the row is not moved by which platforms posted.

A row is marked as a small sample when its last month with a median rests on fewer than 3 listings.

Sample. Every platform with open roles at the start or the end of 3 Aug 2026 to 31 Oct 2026, by the kinds of work of its open roles and its new listings.

Entered: no open role in the kind of work at the start of the period (for a platform first read during it, none in its first week's back catalogue) and at least one new listing in it during the period. Left: open roles in the kind at the start and none at the end.

Counts are shown so a move of one or two roles is not mistaken for a strategy: findings rank only entries of at least 3 new listings and exits of at least 3 open roles.

A role's kind of work is its classification today, so a change in this site's classification can move roles between kinds. Listings from re-key batches are not counted as entries.

Sample. Every platform-day from 3 Aug 2026 to 31 Oct 2026 with at least 3 re-issued listings, in this report's window or in a calendar month of that span.

Re-issued: a listing that leaves a platform's feed and arrives again under the same title at the same read (the same day, UTC), matched one to one. That is the board giving the same listing a new identifier, not a role filled and a new one opened, so it is reported here and not read as churn; a day with at least 3 is listed (a statement about a set of listings).

Out and in at that read: everything that left and arrived that day; only the re-issued pairs are set aside, so the departures that never came back and the arrivals with new titles stay in the flow.

Share columns are the re-issued listings against the period read (shown).

For labs, data vendors and researchers

Buy the data behind this report

The figures above are a summary. Behind them are records we collect ourselves, every day:

  • 11,482 roles tracked, each with its history

Every role on 62 job boards, read since 13 Jul 2026 (every hour since 18 Oct 2026): its pay and place, and the first and last day it was open.

  • 58,632 apply clicks in 28 days

Which roles people actually apply to, by field, pay and kind of work. It happens on this site, so nobody else can count it.

  • 39 lab and vendor hiring boards

The job boards of 25 AI labs and 14 human-data vendors, read every day: who is hiring for human data, and who is hiring to buy it.

What you can buy

  • The records

The rows behind any figure, with their history, not only the totals.

  • A regular feed

The same figures every week or month, as files.

  • A custom cut or benchmark

Your countries, languages or fields, or your own platform against the market.

Building AI and need the experts behind this data? (you contract them yourself) or (we deliver the expert work).

Method and definitions

The public job boards of the AI training platforms this site tracks, read since 3 Aug 2026 (every hour since 18 Oct 2026). Listings only: applicant activity on this site is never published per platform. Every figure is computed by one database query over the window shown, the same query for the live report and for every edition. Each figure states its sample beneath it.

Coverage
The platforms whose public job boards AITraining.jobs reads in full every hour. Each figure states how many were read.
Open role
A role listed by a given day and still in its platform's feed that day.
New listing
A role that first appeared during the period on a platform already tracked before that week. A platform's first week in this dataset is its back catalogue and is not counted as new. When this site changes how it reads a platform's board (a cap lifted, a page kind or department read too, a relevance rule changed), the roles that came into view or left it from that change to the end of its week are this site's reading, not the platform's hiring: they are not new listings or removals, and changes in open roles are measured like for like across it. Each platform's report says what changed.
Removed listing
A role that left its platform's feed during the period.
Net flow
New listings minus removed listings, both outside re-key batches.
Like-for-like change
A platform's open roles at the end of the window against its open roles at the start, for platforms tracked before the window opened. A platform first read during the window is marked and never counted as growth. The start is restated by the net of any re-key batch in the window.
Status
Growing: a like-for-like change of +10% or more. Shrinking: -10% or less. Steady: in between. Too few roles: the platform's open roles at the start do not reach the weight of the tracked platforms' average like-for-like change, fitted on their own counts, so its change does not read on its own and no direction is read. First read in window: the platform joined this dataset during the window.
Re-key batch
A listing that leaves a platform's feed and arrives again under the same title at the same read (the same UTC day), matched one to one: the board giving the same listing a new identifier, not a role filled and a new one opened. Each such pair is set aside from new listings, removals and net flow (it moves neither end of the change), and a day with at least 3 of them (the fewest units a statement about a set is made from) is listed as a re-key batch, in the report's window or a calendar month of the last 26 weeks (from 3 Aug 2026 at the earliest), with how many left and arrived at that read beside it.
Advertised pay
The hourly figure a posting states (the middle of a stated range). A platform's median of open roles needs at least 3 roles stating a rate.
Rate-change log
The median advertised hourly rate of a platform's new listings in each calendar month, shown where it has at least 3 new listings stating a rate (the one minimum of every median). Back-catalogue roles and re-issued listings are left out.
Same-work change
For each kind of work with at least 3 priced new listings in both the first and the last month with a median, the change in its median, averaged with the later month's listings as weights. Raised at +10% or more, Cut at -10% or less, Held between (the words' definition, stated beside them); Not comparable when no kind qualifies or the kinds compared hold under half of the later month's priced listings. For the whole market the same work is the same kind of work on the same platform.
Entered or left a kind of work
Entered: no open role in the kind at the start of the period (for a platform first read during it, none in its back catalogue) and at least one new listing in it during the period. Left: open roles in the kind at the start and none at the end.
Kind of work
Each role is classified from its title and description into one of the kinds of AI training work this site tracks, from AI evaluation and coding to multilingual and audio work. Every kind links to its own page.
Window
Live: the last 28 complete days, in UTC, with the weekly, monthly and kind-of-work figures read over the 26 weeks to the same end (from 3 Aug 2026 at the earliest). Edition: one calendar month, with those figures read over the 26 weeks to the month's end (from 3 Aug 2026 at the earliest).

What this data cannot tell you

  • Platforms that recruit without a public job board are not counted. Several large ones invite workers to projects directly.
  • A listing is not a hire. Some platforms keep evergreen roles open for months, and some post one listing per language or country, so a platform posting per language can grow its listings faster than its hiring.
  • Open roles at the start and the end are counts on two days: a platform that opens and closes roles in large batches can change status from one window to the next.
  • A re-key batch is recognised by its shape, not by its cause. A platform that genuinely closed most of its roles and opened as many others on the same day would be set aside too; every batch is listed with its counts so a reader can judge.
  • Rates are what postings advertise, not what workers are paid after tiers, bonuses or rejected tasks. A month's median of 5 to 7 listings moves with a few postings, and the same-work comparison covers only the kinds of work a platform listed often enough in both months.
  • A role's kind of work is its classification today, so a change in this site's classification can move roles between kinds.

How the job feeds are read and roles are classified: site methodology. How fresh, complete and consistent the data is, checked every day: data quality and coverage.

Editions

The live report covers the last 28 complete days and changes every day. Each complete month is also published as an edition, frozen two days after the month ends, so a figure you cite from an edition never moves.
