About Anthropic

Anthropic runs two fellowships for experts outside machine learning: the STEM Fellows (science and engineering PhDs with post-doc or faculty years) and the Conceptual Reasoning Fellows (PhDs or equivalent research experience in philosophy, cognitive science, economics, policy or law). Fellows work full time for four months in small pods with Anthropic researchers, defining the hardest open problems in their field and building the datasets, simulations, evaluations and RL environments that test and train Claude on them. Anthropic says the problems its first cohort of more than 20 STEM Fellows built (June to September 2026) now feed Claude's training. Only these two fellowships are listed here; Anthropic's staff jobs and its separate AI-safety research Fellows Program are not.
