AI labs need chemistry checked by people who have run the reaction. A model can balance an equation on paper and describe a mechanism convincingly. Knowing why the yield crashed at scale takes a chemist who has been at the bench.

This listing is a waitlist, not an open position. No project is attached to your application. Applying puts you in the network we draw from when a chemistry project opens. We ask for one thing: a short AI interview about your field, about 20 minutes, that you take once you have applied. We review applicants from time to time, check whether each profile fits the kind of projects we run, and reach out directly with the scope, hours and rate when there is a match. Timing depends on demand, so you may hear from us soon or only after a while, and we will not contact everyone on the list. You commit to nothing by applying.

Work varies by project. Depending on the project you might write problems and scenarios in your subfield with worked answers, review other chemists' work against a checklist, or grade AI answers on mechanisms, spectra and lab practice. Hours, scope and rate are set per project and sent to you in writing before you start.

On a project you write realistic chemistry tasks and the answer an experienced chemist would give, review other experts' work against an acceptance checklist, and evaluate AI answers for wrong mechanisms, bad stoichiometry and unsafe procedures. Reviewers check everything, and you are paid for approved work.

What you will do

• Write realistic chemistry problems and scenarios with the answer an experienced chemist would give
• Review other experts' work against an acceptance checklist and explain what is wrong and why
• Evaluate AI-generated answers for wrong mechanisms, calculation errors and unsafe procedures
• Document your reasoning and cite the literature or data behind it
• Apply reviewer feedback and revise until the work is accepted
• Work from public or illustrative material only, with nothing proprietary

Requirements

• Degree in chemistry or a closely related field, in progress or completed
• Fluent written English
• Reliable internet connection and a quiet place to work
• Willing to complete a short AI interview
• Willing to work without AI assistance where the project does not allow it

Ideal qualifications

• A degree in chemistry, chemical biology or a closely related field
• Hands-on laboratory or industry experience in at least one subfield
• Able to explain chemical reasoning in plain written English

Nice to have

• A graduate degree in chemistry
• Experience with spectroscopy or chromatography
• Process or scale-up experience
• Prior work on an AI training or data platform
