BIM Tool Specialist
About the role
Opportunity Overview
Handshake is recruiting AEC professionals with experience in building information modeling and design using Vectorworks to contribute to an AI research project. In this project, you’ll apply your expertise to help improve how AI understands real-world professional tasks within your domain, such as BIM modeling, architectural and landscape design, construction documentation, and coordinated project delivery. This is an ongoing, project-based opportunity you can take on alongside your current role.
What You’ll Do
- Use your BIM experience to create tasks that today’s top AI models can’t solve based on real workflows, such as building and site modeling, object and symbol management, data tagging and schedules, sheet layouts and construction documents, and IFC export and model coordination
- Review and evaluate AI-generated responses
- Provide clear, structured written feedback to help improve AI model performance
- Work remotely and complete tasks at your own pace, with no set schedule or minimum hour requirement
Qualifications
- Degree : Completed Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field, such as Architecture, Interior Design, Landscape Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related discipline
- Tool experience : At least 2 years of work experience using Vectorworks or equivalent tools
Additional qualifications (not required, but strengthen your application)
- Experience across multiple BIM or design tools and workflows, such as Revit, ArchiCAD, AutoCAD, SketchUp, or Rhino, or familiarity with IFC, clash detection, and BIM standards (e.g., ISO 19650)
- Professional experience at an architecture, landscape architecture, engineering, construction, or entertainment and stage design firm, or a portfolio of built or published projects
Required for all applicants
- Must have US work authorization
- Strong written communication and attention to detail
- Ability to explain complex BIM and design concepts clearly
- Ability to work independently in a remote, asynchronous environment
Where you can work
This role is 100% remote, for applicants located in United States.
